Fundação de Serralves organizes exhibition by Iranian artist Monir Shahroudy in NYC
The first U.S. museum exhibition of mirror works and drawings by Iranian artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian (b. Qazvin, Iran, 1924), to be on display at the Guggenheim Museum in New York city March 13 through June 13, 2015, is organized by Suzanne Cotter, Director, Fundação de Serralves–Museu de Arte Contemporânea, Porto, Portugal, with Karole Vail, Associate Curator, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
Serralves presents the first museum survey of geometric mirror works and drawings by the celebrated Iranian artist Monir Sharoudy Farmanfarmaian, which will focus on Monir’s sculptural and graphic oeuvre over a career of more than forty years. The majority of the selected works are from the artist’s own collection, many of which have not been seen publicly since the 1970s.
