Palm Coast Mayor Milissa Holland and Council Members Nick Klufas (District 3), Victor Barbosa (District 2), and Ed Danko (District 1) were sworn in Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the business meeting inside council chambers.
Mayor Holland and Council Member Klufas are serving their second term, while Council Member Barbosa and Council Member Danko were recently elected to their seats earlier this month.
Also Tuesday, Council Member Eddie Branquinho was selected to be Vice Mayor.
The City Council also participates as liaisons to various service organizations for the fiscal year 2020-2021. Mayor Holland will be with the River to Sea Transportation Planning Organization. Council Member Branquinho will be with the St. Johns Water Management District. Council Member Klufas will be with the Flagler County Tourism Development Council and Stewart Marchman Center. Council Member Barbosa will be with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, and Council Member Danko will be with the Family Life Center.
The sworn-in ceremony was marked by discussion between city council member Eddie Branquinho and city council member Ed Danko.
Not long after four of the five Palm Coast city council members were sworn in for their new terms and took–or re-took–their seats this morning, council member Eddie Branquinho told councilman Ed Danko that as long as Danko wouldn’t apologize for calling him corrupt during the election campaign, Branquinho would call Danko “councilman corrupt.” And did so several times. Danko called Branquinho “Councilman Full of Crap.” Several times.
Eddie Branquinho.
Eddie Branquinho was elected to the District 4 seat of the Palm Coast City Council in November 2018. A past president of the Portuguese American Cultural Center of Palm Coast, Council Member Branquinho helped establish the Portuguese Honorary Consulate in Palm Coast. When he lived in New Jersey he served as a commissioner of the Elizabeth Board of Education.
Victor Barbosa.
District #2’s new City Council Member, Victor Barbosa, moved to Palm Coast twenty-two years ago from Rahway, New Jersey. He is now the proud owner of the local barbershop, ManCave Palm Coast, and he’s served the community as a member of the Portuguese American Cultural Center, the Flagler County Republican Executive Committee, and the Florida Trump Club.
