Police officer attacked in Lisbon dies of injuries

PSP agent Fábio Guerra, who was attacked in the early hours of Sunday, when he was trying to prevent riots at the door of a nightclub in Lisbon, died this Monday morning, “victim of the serious brain injuries he suffered”.

Two soldiers are under suspicion, namely two marines “responding to an internal investigation and at the disposal of the police authorities”.

In a statement, the Navy refers that, on Saturday, “two soldiers, from the contract regime, from the Marines class, got involved in the clashes that took place in the early hours of the same day, on the public road, having subsequently informed the respective leaders” of the successful.

The incident occurred in the early hours of that day, at 06:30, “outside a nightlife establishment, on 24 de Julho Avenue”, having started with mutual aggressions between several citizens.

There were also “4 police officers, out of service, who immediately intervened, as was their legal obligation”, ending up being “violently” attacked by one of the groups, made up of about 10 people.
