Alentejo Wine Fair opens in Borba next week
This year’s edition of the Vine and Wine Festival starts next Wednesday, in Borba (Évora), with the participation of about 80 exhibitors, with emphasis on Alentejo producers, the city council announced on Friday.
The fair dedicated to wine and vineyards, which usually receives thousands of visitors, will take place until the 13th of this month, in the city’s events pavilion, with free admission, to promote the wines from Alentejo, with the participation of producers that present their brands for tasting and sale.
The festival serves as a presentation of the new wine of local producers for São Martinho and, according to the municipality, during the five days, “a lot of animation is guaranteed”.
Musical shows, street entertainment, sports activities, gastronomy, regional products and confectionary, handicraft, technical conferences and wine tasting are some of the event’s attractions.
The musical programme, with free admission, is one of the highlights of the initiative and includes, over four nights, the performances of the group Sangre Ibérico (on the 9th), fadistas from Borba and Cuca Roseta (on the 10th), Ivandro, Cromos da Noite, Karetus and Dj Diaz (on the 11th), Aurea, Dj Brat and Dj S-Silva (on the 12th). Rebeca will perform on the closing day at 16:00.
Other highlights of the program include the St Martin’s festival on 11, at 18:30, with an offer of chestnuts and wine, and the “tascas” circuit, with choral groups, on 12, at 11:00.
The Secretary of State for Local Administration and Territorial Planning, Carlos Miguel, and the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Rui Martinho, are expected to attend the festival’s inauguration on Wednesday at 10:00.
The festival is organised by the municipality together with the Alentejo and Ribatejo Regional Tourism Authority, the Alentejo Regional Wine Commission and the Alentejo Winegrowers’ Technical Association.
