August 28: MTV Video Music Awards at Prudential Center, in Newark NJ

The MTV Video Music Awards will take place in Newark this year, at the Prudential Center, on August 28.

This prestigious event has been honoring the music videos since 1984.

The VMAS usually takes place either in New York or Los Angeles, but this time it will be held i Newark for the second time, after 2019’s edition.

The awards were added and changed over the years. They honor 22 artists in different categories. “Artist of the Year”, , “Best Pop”, “Best Art Direction” are some of the examples.

The Prudential Center will be filled with music worldwide super stars, such as Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Machine Gun Kelly, The Foo Fighters, Drake, and many others.

Ambassador Francisco Duarte Lopes welcomed Luso-American journalists and diplomatic staff to a meeting and lunch at his residence at the Portuguese Embassy in Washington, DC, on July 26.

Among those present were Luis Costa Ribas, from CNN Portugal: Henrique Mano, Chief News Editor, Luso-Americano; Ana Guedes, Voice of America: and João Ricardo Vasconcelos, RTP correspondent in Washington.
