Hundreds enjoy Kema performance
Hundreds of Ironbound residents enjoyed beautiful music played by “Kema” on Saturday, July 26, at Riverbank Park. The music of countries of South and Central America was played on traditional instruments, with the sounds of flutes and pipes floating over the park. People clapped along to the songs, and by the end many were on their feet dancing.
“We love the sound of this special music, and it is the music of home to many of our residents who come from Ecuador, Bolivia, and Peru, and other countries,” said Rev. Moacir, from SPARK Friends of Riverbank Park. “Kema has a special draw for people in the Ironbound.” About 300 people were in attendance.
