IRONBOUND: Newark Mayor Luis Quintana presents Lafayette Street School with a proclamation for Academic Excellence

Inspired by the true story of Alex and the Amazing Lemonade Stand, Lafayette Street School third graders shared their “Final Exhibition” for the thematic unit on “choices”. With the help of the entire school and community, the third grade students were able to send an $8,635 donation to Sr. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through their fundraising efforts.

In honor of academic excellence, on March 21, Mayor Luis A. Quintana returned to Lafayette Street School to present a proclamation to the third grade students and staff. In the proclamation, he saluted the entire Lafayette Street School family for empowering Newark youngsters with the tools of a quality education. Lafayette Street School’s national recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of its teachers, administration, staff, parents, and students.
