New Jersey schools – Bill making 9/11 lessons mandatory passes State Senate

A new proposed law could make 9/11 lessons mandatory in all New Jersey schools.

State Senate Bill 713, which was co-sponsored by state Sen. Richard J. Codey, passed the state Senate last week.

If signed by Gov. Phil Murphy, students would receive age-appropriate lessons on the events that led to the attacks, that happened on the day and the heroic actions of first responders and of those on United Airlines Flight 93.

Supporters of the bill say it is crucial to those who were not alive on that day to receive the lessons covered by the bill.
