Newark Council passes new mixed use zoning for Penn Station Area

The Municipal Council has passed the new Mixed Use Zoning Ordinance (MX-3 Zoning Ordinance) for the Penn Station area vote at its regular meeting, 7-0. The measure will enhance development in the East Ward’s Ironbound neighborhood by reducing the permitted building height, providing affordable housing, preserving the historic neighborhood’s walkable character, and setting high environmental standards.
