Newark Schools back under local control after 22 years

Ras J. Baraka and Superintendent of Newark Public Schools Roger Léon along with Assistant Superintendents and Principals returned to the schools they attended growing up in the city, as part of Sankofa Day in Newark, and welcomed children back on their first day of school on Tuesday, September 4, at Hawkins Street School, in the Ironbound.
