Portuguese language included in list of critical languages
The Portuguese language was recently included in the State Department’s list of 15 critical languages. The Critical Language Scholarships (CLS) Program is designed to increase the number of Americans who learn critical foreign languages in support of the U.S. foreign policy goals of increasing national security and promoting economic competitiveness. The global reach of Portuguese has made it the only Western European language to achieve this status.
