Statewide program supports heritage tourism featuring Elizabeth’s Revolutionary Heritage

The city of Elizabeth, due to its location and revolutionary value, is an important landmark in American History and the founding of New Jersey. Dating back to 1664 as the state’s original capital, Elizabeth is now home to the Crossroads of the American Revolution NJ Statewide signage program.

The story of the city of Elizabeth’s deep Revolutionary War heritage is now being told by two interpretive signs located outdoors on the campus of the historic First Presbyterian Church and burial grounds on Broad Street.
