The Portuguese community of North Carolina celebrated Portugal Day for the first time
On the past 12th of September, there was a party on the state of North Carolina. This party had very Portuguese traces since it was the first time that Portugal Day was celebrated in this state.
The party happened in September because of CODVID-19, which forced the circumstances to change, the event is usually scheduled for June, however the values, traditions and Portuguese culture were very present in a beautiful experience in the city of Ronda.
There were two responsible couples for the organization of this event. Jason and Annabela Resendes, they moved out of New Jersey to North Carolina, more specifically to Charlotte, and they created a group on the social media platform, Facebook, called “Portuguese in Charlotte”, which quickly started to reunite a lot of Portuguese decedents. With the help of the couple Christine and Tony Brito, they decided to organize a party, with the objective to “Bring our traditions and culture which we grew up with, in my case since Newark, so the younger generations can experience the same we did. From our gastronomy, to our wine, our music, and I think we succeeded because the party went very well and soon we will organize more events in ways that our community can organize and celebrate our important dates”.
The experience happened in a Portuguese house, with certainty and the MeraRick Vineyard & Winery as the hostess of this beautiful party where the values of our culture and traditions were praised, in a beautiful journey that will remain in the memories of all who participated in the event.
