Carina Afonso was born in Newark, New Jersey, but her roots are in Arcos de Valdevez. Like so many other young women at her age, she has dreams she hopes to see fulfilled, her dreams encompass an academic career, soccer, and her Portuguese culture and traditions.
Afonso is attending the last year of high school at East Side, where she is an honor roll student with a GPA of 4.21. She is also the face of the girls’ soccer team at the school.
