Women’s empowerment movement brings together all women in Union County

The Women of the Greater Elizabeth/Union County Area led by the 20th Legislative Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, Union County Commissioner Lourdes Leon, Councilwoman Patricia Perkins-Auguste, Board of Education Commissioner Maria Carvalho, Rev. Wanda Lundy of the First Presbyterian Church, and Trinitas Regional Medical Center along with members of the Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce [GECC], took part in their first-ever Women’s Leadership Conference on March 25th, 2023 at The Lobby, 821 Spring St in Elizabeth, to collectively celebrate Women’s empowerment, aiming to bring together all women in the area.

The Women’s Leadership Conference was open to women of diverse ages, ethnicities, demographics, affiliations and/or professions. The event provided a safe and inclusive space for multi-generational women to learn from an array of topics stemming from wellness and spiritual, education and employment, business and finance. Women had the opportunity to share their story, build their networks, gain new perspectives, inspire and motivate to achieve their goals.

“In light of this year’s 2023 International Women’s Month theme, we are providing a fun, safe platform for everyone to tell their story and showcase their own unique individuality, as collectively we come together to empower, learn and celebrate who we are as women,” said Jennifer Costa, President/CEO of the Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce. The program was complete with exhibition/informational booths, lectures and informational resources, and a closing ceremony “close-out party” that consisted of a parade of nations.

Everyone was welcome, the event was FREE and open to the public. Sponsorships and vendor booth opportunities were available.
