Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to visit Newark in September
The governor of the state of N.J., democrat Phill Murphy and the first-lady Tammy Murphy are expected to attend the reception hosted by the President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on September 22 at Sport Club Português in Newark.
The event is co-organized by the Portuguese Consulate in Newark and by the board of directors of SCP. The first Portuguese club to have completed a century of existence, a centennial milestone. The reception takes place on Friday, September 28 at 6:30 pm. and it’s dedicated to members of the luso-american community in New Jersey. It will be followed by a visit of the President to the PISC (Portuguese Instructive Social Club) in Elizabeth.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is traveling to the United States in September to participate in the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly between September 12 and 30. Following these appearances the President is expected to participate at a dinner for PUSC (Portugal-US Chamber of Commerce) set to take place on September 18 at the University Club in Manhattan and on Thursday, September 21 the President will attend a special annual gala held by NYPALC (New York Portuguese-American Leadership Council) that will take place at the Portuguese-American Cultural Center in Tarrytown, in the New York county of Westchester starting at 7p.m.
The President will be accompanied throughout his stay by the Portuguese Ambassador in the United States, Francisco Duarte Lopes and In New York by the consul Luísa Pais Lowe. Consul Luís Sequeira will be present for the events in New Jersey.
