Dina Grilo sworn in as East Newark’s first new mayor in 32 years. Diane Barbosa heads Elizabeth Board of Education
“For those of you who encouraged me to take on this journey, thank you, here I am.” Dina Grilo said in a crowd at East Newark Recreational center, last Friday afternoon when the borough’s first new mayor in 32 years was ceremonially sworn in.
In attendance were First Lady, Tammy Murphy, among local mayors, assem- bly members, senators, and the county executive at the ceremony. The First Lady said Grilo will bring extra motivation to the job because she grew up in the town.
