Portuguese social clubs in crisis
Troughout The United States traditional social clubs are facing mounting challenges and obstacles, In fact, many clubs admit that they are having difficulty adapting to the realities of new technology and lack od success in appealing to a younger audience. When we look at the Portuguese com- munity in New Jersey , it’s apparent that Newark, once the destination of choice, is loosing some of its appeal. In Newark, some clubs are facing challenging economic situations. Others have difficulty finding directors to run the club, some clubs are facing closure, others no longer exist and some have little to no activity whatsoever.
