Elizabeth Residents Can Receive Tax Preparation Help from the IRS

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is offering tax return help to qualifying taxpayers in Elizabeth at their International Rescue Committee Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site.

Eligible taxpayers can get help with their 2021 tax returns at the VITA site at Elizabeth’s Municipal Court, located at 208 Commerce Place, on the fourth floor. Assistance is available by appointment on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9 to 5 p.m., until April 14.

“VITA offers free tax help to individuals and families who generally make $58,000 or less,” said IRS Spokesperson Robert Marvin in a statement. “The IRS certified VITA volunteers are trained to help taxpayers claim the credits they are entitled to such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), the Child Tax Credit and Credit for Other Dependents.

Last year, more than 560,000 New Jersey workers and families got about $1.3 billion in EITC benefits.”
