Saint Michael’s Medical Center – End of month-long strike

A union representing hundreds of nurses and technicians at a Newark hospital have reached a contract agreement with management, ending a month-long strike. The 300 nurses and 60-plus respiratory therapists and radiology, CT scan and MRI technicians at Saint Michael’s Medical Center are returning to work after ratifying a new three-year deal in a vote Wednesday night, St. Michael’s and the Jersey Economic Security Organization union stated. St. Michael’s CEO Dr. Alan Sickles said in a statement that he was “thrilled that the rank-and-file members of the union approved what we believe is a fair contract proposal. 

Newark Police Search for Liquor Store Burglary Suspect

Newark Police officials request the public’s help with identifying a suspect who was captured on surveillance video breaking into a liquor store on June 24. 

According to police, officers responded to a call about a burglary that occurred around 4:30 a.m. at Seabras Wine Beer Liquor, located at 83 Wilson Avenue. The video shows the suspect, a Hispanic male, using an object to break the store window. 

Police said that he entered the business, then left with several boxes containing alcohol.Newark Police officials urge anyone with information about the suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
