Connecticut Judge Angelo dos Santos Retires
The Honorable Judge Angelo L. dos Santos bangs his gavel for the last time in Putnam Connecticut court.
When word spread that June 29 was his last day, more and more people wanted to sit in the court room and witness his last trial and/or share a good-bye cake with him. Attorney dos Santos sold his successful three office law practice in Hartford, Rocky Hill, and Marlborough, Connecticut in order to spend 37 years in government service as a Hartford Public Defender, then appointed as a State of Connecticut Workers Compensation Commissioner, and finally, as a Connecticut Superior Court Judge.
As a rotating Superior Court Judge, he held court in most of the larger Cities in Connecticut. The Honorable Judge dos Santos speaks five languages – English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian. Thus, he was able to move cases very quickly, reducing, commission and court, back logs in many of the locations that he served. Over the years, The Honorable Judge Angelo L. dos Santos was presented many awards: The Americo S. Ventura Lifetime Achievement Award; Official Citations from both:
The State of Connecticut Senate And the General Assembly; Our Lady of Fatima Appreciation Award; Nancy Wyman Lieutenant Governor; State of Connecticut Official Statement; The Portuguese Club of Hartford; Outstanding Member Metal and the Office of Secretary of State Certificate.
