Funeral Fund established for young girl in bicycle accident

More than $50,000 has been raised in an online campaign to help the family of an 11-year-old Hamilton Primary student killed Saturday evening in the Finderne section, Bridgewater, NJ.

In a GoFundMe post by Andrea Dinis Henriques over $50,000 had been raised so far to help the family of Victoria Bastos cover funeral expenses.

On Sunday, police said the girl died after she was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Fulton and 3rd streets a little after 6 p.m. Saturday, according to township Officer Kevin Florczak.

Henriques posted that Victoria had been riding her bike with a friend on the residential street a block east of Finderne Avenue when the fatal accident occurred.

Police say a township resident was driving a pickup truck north on Fulton Street when it struck Victoria Bastos riding her bicycle at the intersection of Fulton and 3rd streets.

Police said she was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Somerset where she was pronounced dead following the crash.
