PALCUS opens applications for Heritage Portugal 2026 Program

The Portuguese American Leadership Council of the United States (PALCUS) has announced that applications are now open for its Heritage Portugal 2026 scholarship program, offering young Luso-Americans a unique opportunity to explore Portugal while strengthening their cultural ties.

The program will take place May 18–30, 2026, and is open to participants ages 18 to 35. Selected participants will travel to Portugal as part of a fully funded cultural and educational experience designed to promote Portuguese heritage, history, and leadership.

PALCUS covers round-trip airfare from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), lodging for the duration of the program, and meals during all scheduled group activities. Participants are responsible only for some meals during free time, personal expenses, and transportation to and from Newark.

Those selected must submit a $500 non-refundable deposit to secure their spot, due by March 31, 2026.

The application period opened Friday, December 19, 2025, and closes Friday, January 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT. Applicants will be notified of their status via email, with accepted participants required to confirm their participation by Friday, March 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. PT. Only online applications will be accepted.
